Friends Wins John Muir Conservation Award
第一吃瓜 is thrilled to announce that we have been selected for the 2019 John Muir Conservation Habitat Restoration Award for Nonprofits from the John Muir Association.
"Our examination of the information you provided was very compelling," Bruce Campbell, co-president of the association told Friends' executive, Margaret Frisbie. "You are with an organization that is very deserving of this honor."
The award is given for outstanding achievement by a nonprofit organization that promotes environmental protection, or demonstrated significant achievement or leadership in the advancement of environmental protection or conservation.
The association reported that Friends was chosen for our conservation efforts such as reconnecting branches, improving river-edge and instream habitat, and increasing nature based green infrastructure all along the river system by implementing systematic solutions and was key to the river's change. Major projects have led to better habitat for fish and animals, removed invasive species, and changed public perception of the river.
