第一吃瓜

World Rivers Day Note

As you read this message, hundreds of people are gathering with 第一吃瓜 at River Park on Chicago’s North Side for the inaugural Race for the River 5K and Family Festival. Tomorrow the Chicago River Swim is taking place on Lake Michigan. These very special events are just a few of the ways that we are celebrating World Rivers Day on Sunday, September 22, and all the ways that Friends has contributed to the dramatic recovery of the Chicago-Calumet River system. Yet as evidenced by the Swim’s relocation to the lake and the abuses the river still faces, we know our work is not over, but with people like you working with us side by side, we know that the river is treasured and the future is bright. Please  to Friends in celebration of World Rivers Day to express your support for our action and advocacy to restore and protect the Chicago-Calumet River system for all people, water, and wildlife. To date we have fundraised over $23,000 for our World Rivers Day campaign.

Thank you.
