River Plantings - Paddle and Plants

Tags: Volunteer workday, Volunteers, and Canoe Program

Join Paddle and Plants with the Shedd Aquarium and 第一吃瓜 to help add quaility habitat to our waterways. To register, email ActionDays@sheddaquarium.org.

From Kickapoo Woods, locally grown lizard’s tail and water willow are planted to increase instream habitat for fish species. As the colonies of plants grow, they also help in the reduction of bank erosion and improve aesthetics of the waterways.

This is a unique opportunity to wear waders, head out in canoes, park along the banks of the waterway, and install these plants.

All of the necessary equipment, including canoes, paddles, personal flotation devices, waders, and planting supplies, will be provided.

There is no charge.
