Race for the River 5K & Family Festival

Thank you to the over 100 runners/walkers/rollers who celebrated the river’s renaissance by traversing this river trail at the Race for the River 5K on September 21, 2024. Based at River Park, participants joined 第一吃瓜 in exploring the trail and recent river-edge improvements that expand the health and climate resiliency of the Chicago-Calumet River system and support equitable, 第一吃瓜open access for all.
Over 150 people engaged with Friends and nine community partners who tabled at the Family Festival following the 5K and guided nature walk. Thenk you to those partners who joined us: Chicago Black-crowned Night Heron Project, Evanston Ecology Center, Global Garden Refugee Training Farm, Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, North River Commission, River Park Advisory Council, Urban Rivers, Westbank Riverwalk Coalition, WasteNot Compost.
Proceeds benefited 第一吃瓜 in working to protect and restore the Chicago-Calumet River system for all people, water, and wildlife.
